Leadership Skills and Employee Performance in Small-Scale Organizations
Abstract
Leadership plays a crucial role in shaping employee performance, particularly in small-scale organizations where leaders have a direct impact on operations, motivation, and productivity. This study explores the relationship between leadership skills and employee performance,
focusing on key competencies such as effective communication, emotional intelligence, participative decision-making, and transformational leadership. Small-scale organizations often face challenges such as resource limitations, high employee turnover, and informal
management structures, making leadership effectiveness even more critical. The study identifies how strong leader-member exchange (LMX) relationships, motivational strategies, and a collaborative work environment contribute to enhanced employee engagement, job satisfaction, and overall productivity. Additionally, it highlights challenges faced by small-scale organizations, including financial constraints and workload management, and provides recommendations for leadership development programs, participative leadership approaches, and comprehensive performance evaluation systems. The findings emphasize that investing in leadership development can significantly improve employee performance and contribute to the sustainable growth of small-scale organizations.
