Business Educators’ Perception of Lifelong Learning in the Era of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract
Keeping up with the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, business educators must continuously update their knowledge to stay informed about new trends which are helpful in preparing students for the future workplace that is growing more complex day-by-day. Learning is a continuous process, from cradle to grave. Learning is critical for business educators especially in the AI era. The study ascertained business educators’ perception of lifelong learning in the era of artificial intelligence. Descriptive survey design was used in the study. The population of the study comprised thirty-two (32) Business Educators (18 male and 14 female) in the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. There was no sample in the study since the population was rather too manageable. A self-designed 4-point rating scale questionnaire tiled: Questionnaire on Perception of Lifelong Learning in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (QPLLEAI) was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach Alpha which produced a reliability coefficient of 0.78. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the data and find answers to the research questions, while t-test was used to test the research hypotheses. Findings indicated that business educators strongly agreed that learning digital skills and collaboration with AI are essential in the AI era. It was recommended that schools’ ICT units should support business educator to acquire and improve digital literacy skills.
