Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning processes has emerged as a global trend with significant implications for educational development. However, while AI-driven educational technologies have gained traction in developed nations, developing countries face unique challenges in adopting and leveraging AI to improve educational outcomes. This is to explores the trends and issues surrounding teaching and learning with AI in developing countries, focusing on accessibility, infrastructure, training, and cultural diversity, merits and demerits and highlighting the challenges of artificial intelligence in Nigeria, while some applications were also given as a means of showing its ability to enhance the disparities in access to technology and internet connectivity, the shortage of skilled professionals capable of effectively utilizing AI in education, and the importance of addressing cultural and linguistic diversity in AI-driven educational initiatives. By understanding these challenges and trends, policymakers, educators, and stakeholders can develop targeted strategies to harness the transformative potential of AI and promote equitable access to quality education in developing countries.
