Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Adoption of Industry Innovation Technology forMetalwork Programme in Colleges of Education, South-South Nigeria.
Abstract
The study was conducted on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Adoption of Industry
Innovation Technology for Remodeling Metalwork Programme in Colleges of Education in
South-South Nigeria. A descriptive research design was used, and a population of 153 made
up of 86 professionals of industries and 67 experts of Colleges of Education in South-South
Nigeria. A structured questionnaire of 50 items made up of six sections were used as instrument
for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation while the
five null hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study
revealed that leveraging artificial intelligence in adoption of industry innovation technology
for remodeling metalwork programme in Colleges of Education in South-South Nigeria is
necessary to meet up with the latest technology for effective innovation and technological
advancement. Such technologies as 3D Printing, Implementing Automation, Internet of things
(IoT), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and, Embracing Digitisation and Advanced materials.
Based on these findings, recommendations were made among others, Colleges of Education
should have a programme that will involve metalwork experts on in-service training on new
and latest technology for remodeling of metalwork programme, the National Directorate of
Employment (NDE) should develop areas of new learning and training for their apprenticeship
programme in metalwork technology, the curriculum planners through the National Board for
Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE)
should update the curriculum of Colleges of Education to meet up with the latest technological
innovations and advancement.
