Abstract

This study examined parental influence in the choice of career on the attitudes of Christian
students towards the studying of Christian Religious Studies in senior secondary schools in
Kaduna State. The objective of the study was to assess the parental influence in the choice of
career on the attitudes of Christian students towards the studying of Christian Religious Studies
in senior secondary schools in Kaduna State. The total population comprised of Christian
students in senior secondary schools in Kaduna State made up of three (3) Senatorial Districts
are 13,964. Six hundred and eighty-nine (689) respondents were randomly sampled to
represent the total population. Descriptive survey design was used for the study and
questionnaire instrument was employed to collect data. The finding revealed that, parents
encourage the development of certain skills or talents in their children instead of encouraging
them to study Christian Religious Studies. The study recommends that, the schools should offer
a balanced curriculum that integrates skill development and religious studies to ensure holistic
education.
