Teachers Competency in Utilization of Digital Technologies in Instructional Delivery of Biology Concepts in Secondary Schools in Akwa Ibom State

This study examined teachers’ competency in utilization of digital technologies in instructional delivery of Biology concepts in secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State, using the descriptive survey design which was targeted at collecting data to assess the issue of teachers’ competency in utilization of digital technologies in instructional delivery of Biology concepts in secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State. The target population were all the 796 Biology teachers in secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State. But a sample size of 311 teachers was used as respondents for this study. Stratified random sampling technique was adopted in sampling the respondents across the state. A 10-item instrument named "Teachers Competency in Utilization of Digital Technologies in Instructional Delivery Questionnaire" was used for data collection. The instrument was duly validated and the internal consistency reliability index of the instrument was estimated using Cronbach Alpha method and the index was 0.72. Mean and standard deviation were used in analyzing the collected data. The findings from the result showed that teachers are not competent in utilization of digital technologies in instructional delivery of Biology concepts in secondary schools. It was recommended that teachers should be trained on use of different digital technologies in instructional delivery.
